SIKA hosts NI Championships

On Saturday afternoon Sika Gymnastics Club hosted the Northern Ireland Gymnastics Championships at Coleraine Leisure Centre.

The club which has been running in Coleraine for the past 35 years was pleased to be asked to hold this event and there were many of its own gymnasts taking part. This was a “2 piece” (floor and vault) competition for recreational gymnasts who usually train for only 1 to 2 hours per week. Each competitor had already participated in a qualifying tournament in order to be eligible. The gymnasts spanned a number of age groups and ability levels.

In all there were approximately 100 gymnasts from 6 different Clubs who had travelled from all over Northern Ireland. It proved to be a very enjoyable day for everyone who attended whether they were there to perform or simply to watch.
