Silver lining for quartet of darts teams

FOUR clubs got their hands on silverware on a big night of action in the Ballymena, Harryville & District Darts League.

Multiple league champions Drifters landed the biggest prize on offer – the Charity Cup – beating Greenhills in the final, while Fairhill Bar and Ballee won the Charity Duffers and Fountain Duffers cups respectively, at the expense of Clough and Fountain Bar.

Those matches took place at Ballymena United Sports and Social Club, while at the Fountain Bar, BT/PO Club beat Ladysmith Arrows to land the Fountain Cup.

The best individual leg of the night was a 14-darter from John Elder (Drifters), followed by: 16 - Davy McFall, Geoff Wylie, Andy Martin; 17 - Dee McToal; 18 - John Elder, Ryan Esler, Colin Millar; 19 - Steven McIlroy, Tom Wallace; 20 - Ryan Esler, Rodney McAleese, Ryan Gault; 21 - Geoff Wylie, Ryan Gault.

Andy Martin (Drifters) had the week’s best finish with a 100 checkout.

Dean Kerr x2 (Greenhills), Darren Hillis (Ballee) and Davy Wilson (Diamond) all hit 180s.

CHARITY CUP

Semi-finals: Drifters 5, Diamond 0; Social 3, Greenhills 6.

Final - Drifters 5, Greenhills 1: Drifters - Davy McFall 2-0, Ryan Esler 2-0, John Elder 2-1, Geoff Wylie 2-0 & Andy Martin 2-0. Greenhills - Steven McIlroy 2-0.

Semi-finals: Fountain Bar walkover; Buffs Club 4, Ballee 5.
