Six Dunbarton bowlers to represent league

Last Thursday night, there were as many as eight Dunbarton Bowling Club bowlers in action at Falls Bowling Club in the Senior Private Greens trial. A ninth bowler Conor McCartan was also selected but as he was working in Germany, he was unable to attend.

On a tricky green, the eight locals had very differing fortunes with Pete Convery the stand out bowler of the octuplet. When the team was picked the following morning, the Gilford club were rewarded for their excellent early season form with six players named in the squad.

Irish International DJ Wilson will skip again, whilst fellow Dunbarton skips Myles Greenfield, Andy Hughes and Conor McCartan have all been selected to play third.

Two of the club’s most in form players, Marty Trainor and Pete Convery have been selected as reserves, their first time in the squad.

The matches will take place on the evening of Friday 30t May at Carrick against the Bowling League of Ireland, Saturday morning 31st at Whitehead versus the NIBA, followed by their final game,, which will take place again at Carrick on the Saturday afternoon against the Provincial Towns League.

No doubt all six players will do Dunbarton Bowling Club proud.

postponements

Due to the death of the father of Dunbarton bowlers, Martin Trainor, Sean Trainor, Chris Trainor and grandfather of Sean Breen, both Dunbarton A team and B team matches were postponed last weekend as a mark of respect.

The A team’s match away to Forth River will now be rearranged within the next 28 days.
