North Down Seconds 1

DROMORE Ladies Seconds welcomed North Down Seconds to Ferris Park on Saturday.

After warming up Dromore were ready right from the whistle to put another three points on the league table. With great play in midfield from Nicole Laverty and Louise McCracken the ball was transferred up the pitch quickly into the corners where Dromore made their attack from.

Within the first five minutes Dromore had made the score 1-0 with Ana Clarke slotting the ball into the right hand side of the net.

With this first goal you could see Dromore were hungry for more. Katie Cochrane worked well along with Lauren Pedlow and helped assist Anna Martin with the second goal.

Just as the half time whistle was about to go Dromore stepped up the play again this time starting from defence. Rosie Maitland carried the ball right through the North Down midfield and into the attacking 25 metre area where she played a ball through the defence to Lauren Pedlow who made no hesitation but to put the ball into the back of the net, making the score 3-0 by half time.

The second half began and North Down were now out to make a come back. With great structure from the Dromore defence Jo Wilkinson and Jo Leathem managed to keep the ball out of the circle preventing the north down team from scoring.

Another quick goal came shortly after this with Anna Martin scoring again from open play. Not long after this north down stepped up and put pressure on the midfield which then carried on through into defence.

Unfortunately due to a few mistakes Dromore conceded their first goal of the match, making the score 4-1 at this point.

Dromore were determined not to let this happen again. With 10 minutes of the second half remaining another quick ball came from defence right up the left hand side to Katie Cochrane. The ball was then crossed into the circle where again Lauren Pedlow was standing unmarked and was able to place the ball into the corner of the goal.

Just before full time the last goal came from a long hit into the circle from Ana Clarke. This gave Anna Martin the perfect chance to deflect the ball into the back of the net to make the final score 6-1.

This was a great result for the team and has put them at the top of the league so far.
