Sixth win for Linfield

Linfield moved to the top of the Larne and District Snooker League after a 4-1 win against third-placed Greenbank ‘A’.

Gary Rutherford (28) and J. McKay got the Blues off to a good start, before Wayne Harper took a frame for the Carrick men. John Ferguson and Billy Parke (30) won the last two to secure a sixth win for Linfield.

Ballyclare Golf Club are one point off the leaders after a strong 4-1 victory at Comrades ‘B’. G. Leckey took advantage of his handicap to beat Individual Champion Neil McKelvey in the first frame (89-78) to get the home team on the scoreboard. However, it was short-lived as Stevie Higgins, Trevor Mairs, Darren Agnew and Tommy Bamber all won for the golfers.

Carrickfergus Golf Club ‘A’ are now on 21 points after securing a 3-2 home success against St Comgall’s. Derek Newell took advantage of his handicap to defeat Anthony McCorry (86-80), and he finished the frame with some good potting. Dean McDonagh won the next for the Saints before Davy Wright edged a close frame and Marty Goudie took it to 3-1. Alphonsus McIlwaine claimed the last for St Comgall’s on his return to his former club.

Carrickfergus Golf Club ‘B’ recorded their third win of the season with a 3-2 win at St John’s. Mike Jones, William Hill (Jnr.), and Tommy Bond won had the golfers in full swing, with G. Hunter and Dougie Long securing two points for the Mill Brae side.

Greenbank ‘B’ have made a steady start to the season and that continued this week when they registered their fourth win. Billy McNeeley, Roy Johnston, Hugh McMurtry registered wins with Ronnie West and Jim Taylor replying for Comrades.

Ballylumford’s match against The Point was set to be played on Monday (November 19).
