Skipper delighted with campaign

COLERAINE Seconds captain Nigel Barr was clearly delighted with not only the victory but the perfect season.

Speaking after the game Nigel said: “Being honest, when we were 80 for 8 today most people would have written us off but I always knew that we could post a competitive score and credit must go to Alistair Handforth who batted absolutely superb." On his team's perfect season Nigel said: “It was always our aim to win this league but winning the cup was an added bonus and the icing on the cake was going unbeaten throughout the season.

"In all my years playing cricket in the North West I have never known a team to win all their matches. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my players for a great season. During the season every player played their part be it with the bat, ball or in the field.”

Finally the skipper paid tribute to the departing Neil Morrison.

“Neil has been an outstanding servant to Coleraine Cricket Club for over 10 years and he probably kept his finest performance for the cup final this year. I and the rest of the team wish him every success in his new career.”
