Gregory Stewart scored with a glancing header from an excellent in-swinging Darren Walls corner. Emmet McGuckin then scored his third goal in two games when he smashed home following a sweeping move down the right wing.

Monaghan bagged his second and the fourth of the game when he rounded the UUC keeper and fired high into the net. This was Monaghan's opening goals of the season after finishing last season as the club's leading scorer. UUC pulled a consolation goal back as the game neared the end.

Two successive wins in a week for the Sky Blues sees them enter the league campaign high on confidence.
