Slane staff enjoy Council reception

MONEYSLANE Football Club would like to express their sincere gratitude for the kind invitation from the Chairperson of Banbridge District Council, Elizabeth Ingram, who hosted a Civic Reception for the players, coaching staff and senior men's committee of the club, last Tuesday night.

Liz’s appointment to the office of Chairperson created history as it is the first time a husband and wife have held the most senior Civic post in Banbridge District.

Moneyslane Football Club would like to thank Liz for her year in office which ended on June 11, and she has indeed done us and the whole community proud, including her late husband John who was such a great ambassador for football in the Banbridge District and further afield.

The players and Moneyslane club officials were warmly welcomed to the Council Chambers by Liz, and other District councillors, John Hanna, Ian Burns, Junior McCrum and two Moneyslane councillors, the vice-chairperson Jim McElroy and David Herron.

Liz gave the party a warm welcome and her kind words of support and praise for the efforts of the Senior Team were much appreciated as the two special guests - the Beckett and League Cup - perched triumphantly on the top table.

The staff at the offices then served up an excellent meal and the desserts of pavlova and apple tarts soon disappeared.

The champions are still basking in the glory of completing the league and cup double of last season and the club would like to thank manager Glen Moffett and assistant John Kernaghan for their monumental feat of completing the double in their first full season in charge.

The party will continue for another two weeks before pre-season training starts, those excess pounds can be sweated off and the players geared up for another successful 2010/11 season in Division Two of the Mid Ulster League.
