Slane U10s take it to the Max

Moneyslane U10 1

Midway Rovers 1

WITH Moneyslane just bringing the minimum seven players, there would be no hiding place as all team members would need to shine.

It was a tight affair with Joshua Crawford and Max Wilson battling hard for control in mid-field. Just before the interval, Rovers gained possession and a well placed shot just slipped past Mark Jardine in nets.

Slane started the better after the break with Wilson and Crawford testing the keeper. Good play down the right from Ethan Banks set up Jordan Davis, whose shot rebounded onto the well placed Steven Moorhead to even the score.

Moneyslane looked as if they could win this match, but only the clock beat them for the winner.

Overall a good team performance.

The U10s were eager to get going after the delayed start. Keeping up his scoring touch, Moorhead pounced again on a Davis effort to go one up. Starting to play like a team, Michael Clydesdale cleared well to find the advancing Crawford who rounded the last defender and doubled Slane's account.

From the restart, Wilson took control and ran with great skill and looked untouchable as he scored a great individual goal before the break.

Seeing the heads of the opposition drop, Wilson and Crawford made it a brace apiece to cap off a great performance. Not to be outdone, David picked up well from Banks to hammer home his first of the day.

Best of the day was Max Wilson.
