SLIDESHOW: Shield success for Ballymena Academy

Ballymena Academy First XV completed their campaign on a high note by winning the Danske Bank Subsidiary Shield.

John Andrews’ side overcame Down High School by 20 points to 10 to lift the trophy at the Kingspan Stadium.

Ballymena out-half Andrew Magrath kicked two penalties to one from Down, as they led 6-3 at the interval.

A converted try by Angus Kernohan early in the second half finally put some daylight between the sides and another try in the second half from skipper Josh McIlroy, finally ended Down’s stubborn resistance, despite a late try.
