SLIDESHOW: Sullivan Upper beat Wallace High School in McCullough Cup Final

Sullivan Upper won the 55th McCullough Cup Final after beating Wallace High School 4-3 on Wednesday thanks to a hat-trick of strikes from John Matchett.

Sullivan had got off to a flying start with Matchett and Callum Carson both scoring to give them a 2-0 lead after 17 minutes.

But Wallace hit back on 23 minutes as Andrew O’Hare shot home from a penalty stroke.

Neither side could add further to their tally before half-time.

After the break Wallace made it 2-2 in the 46th minute as Matthew Nelson hit the target.

Then Sullivan were 3-2 up in the 51st minute as Matchett got his second of the afternoon.

But Wallace were still in there fighting and O’Hare rattled in another for his side to once again draw his side level at 3-3 after 53 minutes.

But Matchett broke Wallace hearts as he scored his third of the day and the winner right at the death to claim the trophy for Sullivan 4-3 after a fantastic final.
