Sloppy defending costs Seconds

COLERAINE Seconds paid the price for sloppy defending as they lost 5-0 to Harlequins in Belfast last Saturday.

Many of the Coleraine side were new to playing together and this became apparent during the course of the first half.

The visitors did manage to hold Harlequins at bay for the first fifteen minutes and had many good chances in the midfield. Zoe Campbell battled hard on the left hand side but to no avail.

However a lack of concentration in the Coleraine defence saw Harlequins score three very sloppy goals in succession.

Coleraine had a change of tactics at half time and they fought from the whistle but were not rewarded with any goals.

Elaine Simpson fought tirelessly in the midfield for the entire game but was not able to capitalise on any chances.

In the closing stages of the game Coleraine conceded two penalty corners. Harlequins managed to find the one spot defender Joanne McGillan and keeper Rachel Black had not covered. Player of the Match: Elaine Simpson.
