SNOOKER: High five means Saints go marching on at top

St Johns remain top of the Larne and District Snooker League after an impressive 5-0 win against Q-Club B at Mill Brae.

Sammy Guiller, Alex Robertson, Andy Reid, Damian Todd and Ady McKee all secured their frames to take full points.

Carrick side Greenbank A are just a point behind after they won 5-0 against Linfield. Davy Johnston, Davy Douglas, Andy Lilley (31), Wayne Harper and Michael Kane (28) chalked up their frames.

Carrick Golf Club A are close by in third place after a 4-1 victory over neighbours, Greenbank B. Davy Wright, G. Armstrong, Gavin Baker and Ricky Bradley were in the swing for the golfers, with Dean Harper providing the response for the Sunnylands outfit.

Current league champions Ballyclare Golf Club A sit in fourth despite losing 3-2 at Ballylumford. Stevie Higgins and Darren Agnew bagged Ballyclare’s frames, with Jim Magill, Davy McAllister and Phillip Haveron winning for the home side.

Clubmates Latharna and The Point both sit level on 12 points after both teams recorded 3-2 wins.

After a slow start, St Comgall’s look as if they have got their season under way by beating Ballyclare Golf Club B 4-1. That’s thanks to successes for Joe Gribben, Vincent Johnston (23), Ciaran OToole and Alphonsus McIlwaine (24). The in-form Ian Burrows won for the golfers with a 37.

There will be a meeting on Monday (November 9) at 7:30pm in St John’s to adjust handicaps in line with the new system, and to make draws for the Pairs handicap and Knockout Cup.

All registrations and team fees must be paid at this meeting.
