SNOOKER: Triangle A are on top form!

THE Coopergate International Snooker League got under way this week.

Triangle A recorded a 5-1 win over newcomers Dunloy.

The win takes Willie Eakin's Triangle to the top of the League on 22 points.

Garvagh and the Legion Hawks also had good wins. Garvagh beat Triangle B 4-2 with man of the match David Baker taking both frames against Marc Hutchinson.

The Hawks secured their first win of the season in their tie with Ballymoney Diamonds. Don Leighton and Vincent Gilmore had a hard fought game. Don took the first frame after a lot of fsafety, but Vincent levelled in the second. Hutchinson and Dunlop got the second match under way. Hutchinson played well to secure two points for the team.

University B entertained Triangle Young Guns, and the newcomers to the league this proved that they are no easy push over by beating Triangle 5-1. The game between Ballymoney All Stars and Triangle Destroyers was a close affair.

It all game down to the final game between C McIntyre and A Tosh. The Triangle player proved too strong sealing a good 4-2 win for the Destroyers.

The final game was Dunloy United against Dunloy Galaxy.

United's team captain Martin Crawley sent out a rallying cry ahead of the clash, and it worked as his boys won 5-1.
