SCROOGY Park, Limavady was the venue for this encounter as Magherafelt took on bottom side Dromore in the league.

With excellent conditions and a fantastic pitch it provided the perfect platform for the Reds to show their title credentials.

The away side immediately went on the attack as Taylor jinked his way down the wing crossing for Loughran who directed his header wide.

Loughran did make amends minutes later as again Taylor worked his magic down the right wing and Loughran applied the finish from the easiest of chances.

The Reds were not holding back and could have gone further in front with Montague, Bateson and Loughran all wasteful in front of goal.

Chances flowed freely as Campbell had a header cleared off the line and the away side rattled the bar three times in quick succession through Campbell, Loughran and Mullan. Centre back McIvor then slalomed through the home side's defence but his shot was just over.

Just before the break the Reds extended the lead as Devlin split the home defence and Loughran produced a great finish over the keeper and the ball nestled neatly in the corner.

The away side introduced McDonald and Owens to add fresh impetus to the game. McDonald quickly got into the action and he burst through the Dromore defence but with the goal at his mercy the keeper produced a stunning save to deny his effort.

Loughran again caused havoc in the home side's defence and duly got his hat trick as he neatly finished from an acute angle after some fine skill from Montague.

However Montague was not to be outshone as he got himself on the score sheet with some exquisite skill chipping the keeper from the edge of area reminiscent of a young Cantona.

With the Reds totally dominating the game concentration slipped and the home side pulled a goal back with an excellent finish at the near post.

Quinn was brought on for Bateson and displayed excellent skill to beat his man before crossing for Taylor at the back post to head in to make it 5-1.

With time running out Owens, Quinn and Mullan went close but Loughran outdone them all when he swiveled on the edge of the area and slotted into the bottom corner to make 6-1 just before the whistle.

The Reds are away this week to Dunaghy which will prove another tough game. Kick off 2pm. Training continues every Tuesday and Thursday night at Meadowbank Sports Arena on the grass, everyone welcome. The Reds would also like to thank all who participated in the poker night and to the Dry Dock for hosting the event.
