SOCCER: Mistakes prove costly for Moyola

MOYOLA entertained Dundela at the Mill Meadow on Saturday with new signing G Murray starting up front in place of P Brown.

Dundela got off to a great start when a freekick in the second minute from the edge of the box from Hylands went straight through McKibbin in the home goal.

Both teams then exchanged chances with a shot from Maybin for Moyola going wide and a shot from Gourley for the Duns being hit straight at McKibbin.

Dundela doubled their lead in the 40th minute when Murray gave away the ball in the centre of the pitch which resulted in Roy firing past McKibbin to make the score line 2-0.

Dundela made a change at the start of the second half with Campbell replacing McCracken. And they extended their lead in the 56th minute when a ball down the Dundela left found Roy and he fired an unstoppable shot over the head of McKibbin into the far corner to make the score line 3-0.

Moyola got a glimmer of hope in the 61st minute when new signing Murray hit a shot from the edge of the box past Fox in the away goal. Dundela had another chance to extend their lead however Campbell headed over after a cross from Gourley.

Both teams made a change with Hill replacing Hylands for Dundela and Mulholland replacing Morrison for Moyola. Dundela finished the scoring in the 73rd minute when a free kick by Hill was passed square to Roy and his shot was deflected in by Chalmers.

Dundela made another change with McCain replacing Lenaghan. Moyola had the last chance of the game when a cross from the left by Maybin was left by Mulholland and Pattison fired his shot over. Moyola made the final change of the game with Kelly replacing the injured Crockett in the 85th minute.

This was a performance in which the mistakes counted with the home side gifting two goals to Dundela.
