Section B

St Joseph’s squeeze home by a shot at Pond Park

A ten shots win for Hugh Lundy was largely responsible for giving St Joseph’s a one shot win and five points away to Pond Park in Section B of the Roy Kennedy Fuels Lisburn Indoor Bowling League.

Lundy’s win enabled the visitors to lead by 11 shots at the break, but John Green came back with a seven shots success and Pond Park hit back only to fail by the narrowest of margins.

Broomhedge took all seven points at home to Lambeg Parish.

The Hillsborough Social bowlers won their way through the sections stage and went on to win 11-4 in the first round of the knock-out stage.

In the quarter finals they beat Sayers/McWhirter 11-2, but the semi-finals proved to be a step too far when they lost 4-8 to the eventual winners Gerry McCabe/Dairmuid McMahon, Carrickmacross.

A top class performance though in a strong field.

Mixed Pairs

Lisburn Zone mixed pairs competition will be played at Derriaghy on Tuesday, October 20 and at Anahilt Presbyterian on Friday, October 23.
