Soldierstown slip up

SOLDIERSTOWN 34 (2) BALLINDERRY 41 (5) - SOLDIERSTOWN slipped up in their quest for the Section A Lisburn Indoor Bowling League title when they lost by seven shots at home to champions, Ballinderry, and had to settle for two points.

The result helped Hillsborough Social go top after two wins last week.

Keith Morrison lifted a four and Richard McCaw two three to make it 6-6 at the third but a three helped Ballinderry to a 13-6 lead with an end left when Soldierstown added a double.

John Mackey started with three, one and added a five at the fourth to lead Eddie Marsden, who had lifted a four, 10-8 at the seventh. Doubles were exchanged to give Soldierstown a two shots win.

A three and a four helped Raymond Stubbs to a 10-0 lead at the fifth and after Jim Johnston lifted a double Ballinderry finished with one, three, two to win by 14 shots.

After starting with a three William Johnston was 8-1 ahead at the fifth and after Paul Reid added a single Soldierstown finished with one, three to win by ten shots.
