South Antrim may have played in top flight hockey during their 103 year existence, but certainly not within the modern era, stretching back over the past 50 years.

The Captain commented: “We are all ecstatic. The last few years we have come quite close to promotion so it is great to finally go up.

“I think our first training session was in mid-June, we started early for this season and we are reaping the rewards now.”

“We knew with four or five games to go that we had it in our hands. We knew it was a case of we had to win six of our last eight, it’s nice to do it that bit early to take a bit of pressure off.

“The guys have worked really hard from June. Their commitment has been second to none and they have taken everything on board that has been asked of them.

“I think moving up to the Premier League will be difficult, but if the core group of guys stay together, I see no reason why we can’t be competitive.”
