Ballymena Seconds 1

On the back of two away draws South Fifths were looking to get their first win of the season at home to Ballymena Seconds.

Ten minutes in South won a short corner.

Andrew Brown’s first shot was saved but he calmly picked up the rebound and slotted the ball into the corner.

South continued to attack but slack passing allowed Ballymena to press.

However, the South defence held firm with newcomer Alan Eggleson making some decisive tackles in his debut match.

The second half saw Ballymena attacking more with a series of short corners which eventually resulted in an equaliser.

South continued to attack with some great moves down the left by Cameron Ullmann setting up Ian McElhinney who should have scored. However, he made amends minutes later when another mazy run by Cameron found Adam Glass whose shot was saved by the Ballymena keeper but McElhinney pounced on the rebound to score what was the winner to give South a hard earned three points.
