South Ladies Firsts suffer defeat while Thirds draw

South Antrim Ladies Firsts lost 1-0 to PSNI after conceding an early goal which they never recovered from.

The South Ladies fought back hard with great attack from Abi Trimble and a lot of fight up front from Steph Neill. With hard work from the midfield the ladies kept possession and were working PSNI hard. The second half was yet again dominated by South with excellent work upfront from Vicky Donaldson. The girls however couldn’t put one past PSNIs keeper and the final score was 1-0 to PSNI. Player of the match was Zara Carson.

At the end of the first half a free out of the South circle was well intercepted by an Ards forward who managed to best the keeper to put the Ards ladies ahead.

South continued to pressure and were duly rewarded when Laura McConell made the most of a clearance to intercept the ball and follow up on a rebound to get the ladies on even terms.

This seemed to spur the Ards team to reach for a win but resolute defending once again from the young side with Niamh Doyle and Lana Eastwood closing down the Ards forwards helped the ladies to finish with just reward for their efforts and their first point in Ulster hockey.

Going by these efforts the ladies will also hope for many more before the end of the season.
