South Thirds get their first win

South Thirds travelled to Mossley Thirds on Saturday and finally registered their first win of the season with a 5-1 win.

The Thirds have been unlucky in recent weeks after a handful great displays.

South started the game on the back foot, conceding from a short course inside five minutes.

Calum McCandless equalised with a lovely snap shot from midway inside the D. This seemed to be the turning point as from thereafter South controlled most of the game.

Minutes later, Calum bagged his second with a neat reverse stick finish. Just before the end of the half they made it 3-1; George Glass hitting a shot from an angle that the Mossley keeper could only parry into his own net.

After the break, South continued to control the game with George Glass scoring his second of the match and at the very end Calum completing his hat-trick by poking home the ball from a few yards out that the Mossley keeper failed to clear.

A great performance by everyone on the team on Saturday, and a very convincing win that was needed.
