South’s ladies suffer home loss

South Ladies Seconds entertained Instonians at Friends’ and will be disappointed that they had nothing to show for their efforts, losing 1-0.

Starting the game by continuing to play good attacking hockey Rachel O’Sullivan managed to get the ball to the edge of the circle, beating two players only to be denied by a strong Instonians defence. South forwards continued to pile on the pressure and as a result Amy Duncan’s shot from the edge of the circle was well saved by the in form Instonians keeper. Instonians were not to be denied and worked hard to create their own chances and managed to penetrate the South defence to score the only goal of the game.

South came out in the second half determined to get something from the game. Laura McConnell was denied from close range. South’s continued pressure resulted in a number of short corners and Sarah Neill worked hard to convert but was denied by some great saves. South will hope to get back to winning ways at Queens.
