Special ticket deal available for Down’s Gaelic fans

You can purchase a ‘Championship Chase’ ticket, which is valid from August 8 to September 1 inclusive, entitling you to admission to any game during the round robin series.

In launching the ticket County Treasurer Brendan Fitzpatrick said that he was confident that the ‘Championship Chase’ ticket would be a great hit with the gaels of the county.

He said; “At just £20 this ticket is unbelievable value. Even if you were to attend the three games your own club will play, this will represent a saving of £1.

“But you can go to so many more games as well and at no additional cost. I am confident that this initiative will go down a real winner with the fans.”

The ‘Championship Chase’ round robin special ticket is available from the Down GAA County Office (028-43770880) or by ordering through your local GAA Club Secretary.

- Down Ladies’ footballers have been drawn against their Wicklow counterparts in the TG4 Intermediate All Ireland Championship on August 10th (venue still to be confirmed).

As a provincial finalist, Down were automatically placed into round two of the Championship whereby Wicklow received a bye and no doubt were hoping not to meet the Mourne Ladies again after a very disappointing meeting in the league for Wicklow, which saw Down come out comfortable winners.

Down won the league in a thrilling encounter against neighbours Armagh and won promotion to top flight Division Two football in 2014.

They are clear favourites to progress past Wicklow and book a spot in the quarter finals, pencilled in for August 17.
