Spirited Glademen lose out to Kilkeel in eight-goal thriller

The visitors began the match at a frantic pace and soon took a two-goal lead, leaving the home side chasing the game.

But Mossley rallied and fought their way into the match producing a number of chances.

Kilkeel remained a threat with their pace on the counter attack. However, the hosts were next to strike and reduced the deficit when Jordan Robinson worked the ball into the circle for Jordan Barr to finish from close range.

The second half saw Mossley take the initiative and brought the match level when captain Robinson scored a penalty-corner drag flick.

The home side’s comeback was shortlived as Kilkeel edged ahead shortly after with a strike from the edge of the circle before a good spell of play saw them add two more to take the score to 5-2.

Mossley continued to create chances and hold possession but didn’t have any joy in front of goal. That was until nine minutes to go when Richard McClintock latched on to a loose ball in the circle and fired home, leaving Mossley trailing 5-3.

The Glademen pressed to salvage something from the game but with the clock against them, they were unable to carve out any further openings.

The club’s 2nd XI lost 4-1 at home to Banbridge, with Mark Lee netting the goal. The 3rd XI won 6-2 against QUB 2nd XI with goals by Calum Carson, Jason Hill, Ian Creighton (two) and Jordan McCrea (two).

The 4th XI won 3-0 against Newry thanks to goals from Mark Lee, Peter Farr and Robert Tyrrell.

The 5th XI lost 6-2 on the road to South Antrim. Stewart McClean and Gavin Weir were on target.

Mossley Ladies

Mossley Ladies II defeated Priorians 3-0 at Ulster University, Jordanstown on Saturday.

Zoe Tisdale forged the Glade side in front before Ellie Cooke set up Emma Downeyfor number two. Justine Dickie put the gloss on a fine display, scoring a third from a penalty flick.
