Sponsorship boost for cyclists from online bike giants

THE 2012 season will see Northern Ireland based Chain Reaction Cycles, the world’s largest online bike store, as title sponsors of the Ballymena Road Club.

Announcing the new three year deal, Jim Burns, Chairman of the club, said: “In these days of uncertainty it means so much to Ballymena Road Club to have support from such an international company as Chain Reaction Cycles, and indeed great to see that the company are supporting local cycling. On behalf of the whole club I would like to thank the company for their generous support.”

Club Treasurer Richard Wilson added: “The additional sponsorship from Chain Reaction Cycles, combined with that from the club’s existing sponsor – Northstone – will enable Ballymena Road Club to secure its immediate financial commitments and carry out some much needed maintenance and improvement projects at our premises on Railway Street in the town.”

BRC’s new kit was unveiled at Chain Reaction Cycles’ headquarters in Doagh, last week, and presented to the club by CRC Directors Michael Murdock and Nick Redman.

Michael Murdock commented: “We are very pleased to welcome members of Ballymena Road Club to our premises and to present the new team kit. I’m delighted that we can support such an active local club, continuing our reinvestment into local cycling.”

The company was established in 1984 when George and Janice Watson opened Ballynure Cycles. In 1989 the shop moved to Ballyclare and was rebranded as Chain Reaction Cycles, offering specialist brands with everything for sale via mail order.

ChainReactionCycles.com website launched in 1999, and the company moved again to new premises in 2005 in order to accommodate a growing product inventory and workforce.
