Springwell runners at 10k

Owen Gahan led the huge field of over 1100 runners home in 32:43 and Julie Bulter picked up the ladies prize in 38:40.

First home for Springwell was Philip Mullan in 38:59 followed by Leslie Ashe 39:10, James McMullan 39:28, Thomas Moore 42:00, Kenny Coulter 42:35 (PB), Alan McKeeman 43:44, Hugh Deighan 43:48 and Betty Deighan 49:44.

Richard Johnston and Scott Rankin resumed their battle for supremacy in Race 4 of the Furey Insurances 5K Series at Culmore on Wednesday night. This time Johnston (16:06) came out on top carving out a ten second winning margin over his Foyle Valley rival in a wind affected race. The Women’s race went to Innishowen’s impressive Helena Crossan in 18:45 with Springwell’s latest recruit Gemma Turley winning the battle for second place coming home in 19:27.

Chris Millar put in another impressive run to finish in 18:08 closely followed by Gerry O’Doherty in 18:46.

On Monday 31 May Bryan Edgar and Kieran O’Neill travelled to Newry for the Half Marathon. The race was won by Richard Turkington in 1:12:31 with Julie Turley finishing first lady in 1:20:37. Kieran ran well finishing 11th in 1:20:37 and Bryan finished 17th in 1:23:24.
