Springwell Runners out in force at Maghera

SPRINGWELL were well represented at the Maghera 10K on Tuesday night.

On a cool evening with a stiff breeze twenty four club members lined up on the starting line.

Stephen Duncan (30:54) and Briege Connolly (37:05) were the major prize winners.

Stephen Joyce had an excellent run coming home seventh in 36:09 closely followed by Philip Mullan 38:01 (2nd MO40), Hugh Boyle 39:02 (1st MO50), Leslie Ashe 39:07 (2nd MO50), Marcus Devine 39:20, Jim Breen 39:50, Thomas Moore 41:33, Michael Devine 42:08, Owen O’Neill 43:37, Conor McKeown 43:37, Hugh Deighan 43:44, Carol McIlvar 44:36, Alan McKeeman 44:50, Kay Hack 45:40, Althea Clarkson 45:52, Lynn Montgomery 48:41 (1st FO45), Betty Deighan 48:44 (2nd FO45), Joseph McEvoy 48:52, Brendan McLaughlin 50:47 (1st MO60), Kyle Lamberton 54:00, Kenny Bacon 54:29, Rebecca Clarke 60:41 and Angela Dickson 60:42. Jim Platt ran but no time was recorded.

Records tumbled at the Furey Insurance 5K in Buncrana on Wednesday evening.

A record entry for the series saw Joe McAllister (14:42) and Maria McCambridge (16:06) break the male and female course records.

Not to be out done Springwell’s Chris Millar ran a new personal best of 17:49 on the fast Buncrana course and Gerry O’Doherty recorded 18:21.

Leslie Ashe, Hugh Boyle, Alan McKeeman, Chris Surgeoner, Kyle Lamberton, Angela Dickson, Rebecca Clarke and Kenny Bacon ran the Run Together Ballymoney 5K Fun in Riverside Park on Friday evening.

The run was organised by Ballymoney’s Cancer Research UK fund raising group.
