St Colman’s lead the pack as the league is back in action

The second half of the NW League programme is now up and running again after the Christmas break and with a fine away win over Ballinrees, it is now St. Colman’s who lead the pack.

David Walker (St. Colman’s) took on William Calvin (B’rees) and Walker produced a good display to win 10-4.

Paul McCook gave St. Colman’s a second point when he beat Jonathan Calvin (B’rees) 13-8.

Uel Gordon pulled a game back for Ballinrees with a win over Martin McAleese (St. Colman’s), but Aran Tennant made sure of the overall win for the visitors when he defeated Victor Millen (B’rees), 13-8.

The Marian has started the New Year well as they travelled to Boveedy and came home with six points which puts them in third place in the League.

It started so well for Boveedy with Alan Catherwood beating Terence McGarry by five shots in the opener.

James Marin (Marian) though levelled the match by beating Robert Sufferin (B’veedy) 15-5 in a good game.

The second half however belonged to the visitors. Brian McAlary (Marian) won 12-4 against Doughie Morrow (B’veedy) and William McCaw (Marian) was too strong for Ashley McCahon (B’veedy), winning 14-2 to seal the victory.

St. Mary’s have also re-started the league camppaign well.

They entertained Loughanreagh and in a very tight match they held on to beat their opponents by two shots in the end.

Alan Irwin (L’reagh) took on Harold Kelly (St. Mary’s) and the Loughanreagh player held on to win 10-9 in a tight game. Declan McCann squared the match for St. Mary’s with a 10-3 win against Alastair Steele (L’reagh) in the next.

David Gaile put St. Mary’s ahead when he beat Edwin Irwin (L’reagh) by five shots.

Ian Ross almost pulled it back for the visitors with a 15-6 win against Jordan Mullan (St. Mary’s) but it was not enough to earn the overall score.
