St. Mary’s host GAA president

The visit was a tremendous success for everyone involved and was testament to all the hard work that has been put into the Club not just in recent months but over the years.

The event kicked off in St Michael’s Grammar School where the president honoured the underage stars in a presentation evening. The President was more than impressed with the turnout and especially with the show put on by the Scór groups.

The main event of the weekend took place on Saturday morning when Aghagallon took on Galwey’s Gate in the Parish Cup. It was a very impressive turnout and the match was played in great spirits. Many of the men were able to turn back the clock for the afternoon and the large crowd were treated to a great spectacle. Galwey’s Gate led for most of the way but in an exciting finish Connor McStay bagged a goal to see the match tied and the trophy shared.

The match was played in memory of Kevin Nelson and charity was the winner on the day as over £400 was raised which will be shared between local charities and schools.
