Stars come to MUSA Programme

TYRONE superstars Stephen O’Neill and Niall Morgan will be on hand to help budding goalkeepers and strikers of the future to improve their skills when they appear at Mid Ulster Sports Arena on Friday July 5 from 10am.

12-16 year olds will receive expert tuition from former Dungannon Swifts FC and current Tyrone GAA goalkeeper Niall Morgan and All Ireland winner Stephen O’Neill. Niall will take the young goalkeepers from soccer and GAA through warm ups, footwork drill, shot stopping and many more drills to help them become better keepers.

The Tyrone captain Stephen O’Neill will deliver a master-class in “Attacking Play” for 12-16 year olds. Both specialist clinics are strictly limited so you are advised to book early to secure your place.

Cookstown District Council Sports Development Unit has put together a comprehensive sports and physical activity programme for young people of all abilities and interests.

This year’s programme is bigger and better than ever before with new activities including Girls Soccer Day Camp and Hockey Coaching. The Multi-Sports camps will take place across the district in three different locations, and sports specific camps on offer include grassroots soccer, tennis, netball, windsurfing, canoeing and sailing. Wildcats will also be on the prowl with a three day camp at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena for 5-8 year olds.

A Famil Fun Day takes place on Saturday, June 29 from 1-4pm at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena and will see a number of fun activities.

These will include amusements, face painting, balloon modelling, tattoos, Activ8 Pursuits Challenge, Disability Sports, Tandem cycle, underage GAA and soccer tournaments, tag rugby and cage sports.

For people with a disability, a Friday Club will run from 26 July to 23 August for Under 13s and over 13s. The GAA Games Promotion Officer Ronan Devlin, and Disability Coach, Kathleen Brogan, will deliver these two specific multi sports programmes. These programmes gave people with a disability an opportunity to participate in structured sport as well as increasing their confidence and improving their self-esteem.

All activities will be led by fully qualified staff that will ensure the young people encounter a fun and enjoyable experience in a safe and structured environment.

The focus of the programmes will be on FUNdamental movement skills. The development of these skills, using a positive and fun approach, will contribute significantly to future athletic achievements.

Programmes will be delivered at a range of venues across the district.
