Stranocum in seventh heaven

STRANOCUM Youths continued their preparations for the Foyle Cup by beating Coleraine Youth Academy 7-4 in front of a large crowd in the village on Saturday.

Stranocum took the lead through Chris Moore in a game which was played over three thirty minute periods.

However the visitors knocked three in to make it 3-1.

Moore pulled one back before Coleraine made it 4-2.

Thomas McNeill then bagged a brace following throw-ins from Stranocum’s very own Rory Delap - Adam Jamison.

Owen McLaughlin made it 5-4 to the hosts from the edge of the box before Danny Laverty chipped in number six.

The best goal of the night was scored by Ryan ‘Tiny’ McLaughlin who dinked the ‘keeper from 25 yards out to round off the scoring.

What made the scoreline even more impressive was the fact Moore, Jamison, Cunningham and McConaghie had played for Ballymoney Youths earlier in the day.

The team’s management singled out Tiny McLaughlin and Thomas Hunter for special praise on the day.

Stranocum have a number of fixtures lined up for the coming weeks, see the Times for details.
