Striker Craig set for Inver Park comeback

MARK Craig is on his way back to Inver Park after an eight-year absence and Paul Millar is delighted to bolster his attack force with the recruitment of a player who scored fifteen goals for fifth-placed Carrick Rangers in IFA Championship 1 last season.

"His name isn't on the form yet but it's more or less a done deal that he'll be playing for Larne when the new season kicks off at the start of August," confirmed Millar.

"His contract at Taylor's Avenue is not up yet but I got permission from Stevie Small to speak with the striker and I think everything is sorted out for him to join us once we get back to Carrick and negotiate for his release as soon as we can get that done.

"He's a good player with an eye for goal. He scored fifteen goals for Rangers last season and will be a terrific partner up front for Davy Larmour.

"That was a department in which we were lacking a bit last term, if you look at the statistics. Davy scored over twenty goals but the next man to him in our scoring list was Adam Dick, with only nine goals," explained the Inver Park boss.

The Carrick manager is resigned to losing Craig, but says he understands the player's position with regard to his future.

"Mark, a good lad who I have a lot of time for, had a decent season with us as well after we had taken him here from Nortel and given him a platform to play at this level again.

"Larne is where he started his career and I think it's very much a personal decision whereby he wants to complete the circle and go back there before he ends his career. I'm sure he will do a good job for them," said Small
