Strong ’Screen second half costs Foreglen

Midway through the first half Ballinascreen looked as if they would run away with this game at Dean McGlinchey Park, having established a 1-05 to 0-02 lead, but Foreglen hit a people patch with a three goal salvo that took them to the break 3-03 to 1-07 ahead.

However, the home side dominated the second half and clinched an eventually convincing eight point win with a 53rd minute goal.

Shane Mulgrew converted four frees in the opening quarter, Phillip Bradley getting one from play, with Benny Heron’s 15th minute goal putting the 1-05 to 0-02 ahead, Kevin O’Connor and Niall McFeely getting the Foreglen points.

Then the O’Briens hit Ballinascreen with a three goal barrage, Eoghan Duffy getting the first, Kevin O’Connor hitting two and Eoghan McFeely getting the point that took Foreglen to a 3-3 to 1-7 interval lead.

Ballinascreen’s last two points of the half came from a Heron ‘45’ and a Shane Mulgrew free.

Ballinascreen dominated the second half with points from Phillip Bradley scoring either side of three frees from Mulgrew.

Philip Bradley added two more, Bradley and Sean Woods on target before Johnny McKee scored a 53rd minute goal.

Johnny McCullagh pointed a free late on, Foreglen scores in second half from Niall McFeely, Mark McCormick, Kevin O’Connor and Cathal O’Hara.
