Success as the first Sport Relief mile is held in Lisburn

THE first Sport Relief mile was held in Wallace Park Lisburn on Sunday March 25 and with close to 300 participants and almost £2000 raised, it was certainly a success.

Lisburn had around 20 people running 6 miles, 30 running 3 miles and 240 running/walking the mile.

Councillor Thomas Beckett, head of the Leisure Services Committee, started the race and even went on to run 3 miles himself.

The event had a genuine family feel with all ages and abilities turning out to do their bit for Sport Relief. The inflatables, face painting and of course the great weather, made for an enjoyable day for all.
