Success for Bannin Tele foursomes

THE qualifying round of the Belfast Telegraph Foursomes was played at Fortwilliam Golf Club last Sunday.

There are now two handicap sections and Banbridge fared very well in both.

In category one, handicaps 0-5, Luke Woods and Colin Wilton shot a gross 72 and qualified in second place.

In category two, handicaps 6-10, Seamus Rooney and Keith Steenson shot a gross 73 and they too qualified in second place.

Both pairs will return to Fortwilliam on Sunday October 10 for the second phase of the competition, which will consist of two rounds of matchplay.

Success there could mean a three-day trip to the Raddison Blue Hotel in County Cavan for the grand final.
