Success for local swimmers at their first competition

THREE swimmers from Lisburn City Swimming Club took part in the Northern Ireland Nationwide Swimming Championships at Lagan Valley LeisurePlex on Saturday October 20. Bethany Firth, gold medallist and Laurence McGivern, finalist at the London 2012 Paralympics, supported the event.

This was the first time the three Lisburn swimmers had competed in a gala and their training paid off with all three receiving medals in their heats.

Eleven year old Ryan Brown took gold in the 25m backstroke in the Multi-Class S1 – S13 in a time of 36.72 with 16 year old Rory Irvine producing an excellent time of 52.64. Nineteen year old Connor Magee had a fantastic swim of 44.83 in this same event in the Multi-Class S14 – S15.
