Success for members of Maghaberry Taekwondo Club

MEMBERS of Maghaberry Taekwondo Club attended the Second Northern Ireland Poomsae Championships, held at Queens PEC, Belfast on Saturday June 5, where the team took a host of medals.

Team member Sam Reddick collected three Silver Medals, including an Individual 2nd Senior Group, Pairs (with Laura Burns Lisburn Taekwondo Club) and Team (with Marty Green and Adam Finlay, both of Lisburn Taekwondo Club). Whilst Jake Beckett won a Bronze Medal for the Individual Cadet Group and Sam Chelsea Reddick scooped a Gold Medal as the Individual Junior Group.

Coach Adrian Williams explained that the team had all worked hard up to the competition, training up to three times a week. Jake and Sam Chelsea had entered this as their first ever competition and enjoyed every minute of the experience. They both added that, "They can't wait for the next one".

Meanwhile, Sam Reddick was enjoying his third competition since starting Taekwondo just under two years ago, and added that every contest gives him more experience. They are all looking forward to their next grading in a couple of weeks alongside other members of the club.

The team train every Wednesday evening at Maghaberry Community Centre and sometimes at Lisburn Taekwondo Club. For further details check out their website www.maghaberrytaekwondo.co.uk.
