Success for Timothy and Gavin

The Thursday 18holes Open Stableford competitions are becoming very popular. The one on Thursday the 20th of May attracted 49 players and that is the largest entry to date.

And it was won by the Ian Poulter look-alike, the one and only Timothy Beattie. Playing off a handicap of 14, Timothy went round in only five over par gross. This was superb golf and he was a worthy winner.

Bruce McCandless (8) was runner-up with 43 points. Gavin Greer (18) was third with 42 points.

The best gross score was an excellent 2 under par 67 from Jonathan Ward.

There was an added bonus for Gavin Greer as the Logan cup was played in conjunction with the Thursday Open. This cup is played for by golfers with a handicap of 18 or above.

Gavin, with 42 points, was the winner and he may never get the opportunity to win it again. That is because his handicap will certainly drop below 18 and, judging by his current form, it may never come up again.

Still, victory in the Logan cup is a major achievement and it will look well on Gavin’s CV.
