The judo grading system comprises of 18 junior or Mon grades with a change of belt colour (through red, yellow, orange, green, blue and brown) with every three grades promoted. In the senior or Kyu grade system there is one grade per colour and above that there are the Master grades who wear a black belt for grades 1st to 5th Dan. The summer grading marked the final night of judo training before the summer break and the results are listed below.

The Club is especially thankful to Stuart Fraser who provided a box of gifts for the Club, a nice end to the summer term. Other Club news is that Club Secretary Peter Cuckoo and Rebecca Cuckoo recently passed their Competition Recorder examination which means we now have local judo officials.

Readers interested to taking up this exciting Olympic combat sport for competition, self-defense or just good fun should come along to Coleraine Leisure Centre any Friday evening in September when the Club resumes again after the summer break.

The Club also plans to run a beginners course for men and women in October. This will provide an opportunity for parents and friends of members as well as those completely new to judo to enjoy participation in our sport.
