Summer season at Rathfriland comes to a close

THE summer season of shooting at Rathfriland drew to a close recently, with the final night of the club’s 20/60 shoots held on Thursday, 23 August.

While numbers as a whole were down compared to previous years the final night’s shooting saw a good turnout with a total of ten lines shot through dull conditions.

Over the night, 20/60 scores seemed hard to come by. Eventually the night ended up with three shooters hitting the top score, namely Ronald Sloan, Raymond Graham and Allen Finlay.

With Graham not staying for the final it was Sloan and Finlay who went head-to-head with Mourne shooter Ronald Sloan the eventual winner.

The club would like to thank shooters for their loyal attendance over the summer season. With shooting attendances down in general it was great to see upwards of ten-or-so lines shot each Thursday night.

Shooting will now take place in 100-bird format, with dates to be confirmed for Rathfriland Clay Pigeon Club.
