Almost 30 riders were put into two groups separated by four minutes and what makes the racing so tough now is that all the riders are racing men.

The race had everything, super weather, an excellent course, plenty of marshalls and riders giving it everything.

Both groups set out at a frantic pace and as the laps went by the scratch group were reeling in the front group.

At the start of the fourth and final lap the scratch group caught the leaders and they went on attack after attack.

Riders were tiring but it still came down to a bunch sprint on the Quarry Road.

Gavin Magowan proved a tough nut to crack winning from David McKnight with Paul Wilkinson 3rd. Wilkinson takes the second round for the Imperial Cup.

Many thanks to Billy, Derek, Vincent, John, Clyde, Will, Alison, Bertie and Barbara who did a good job on the course.

On Tuesday night (June 24) there is another cracker with an Australian pursuit starting at the flyover on the Castlewellan Road to the roundabout at Castlewellan and back at 7pm.
