SURFING: Portrush Surfing Championships called off
THIS weekend's Monster Energy Portrush Surfing Open 2010 is being postponed until next month.
Following a final check of north coast beaches early on Friday morning and reviewing the swell forecast for the next two days, contest organisers agreed that wave height will be below the international standard for contestable surf.
The Chair of the Causeway Coast Surf Club said: "However, the additional evening entertainment scheduled for the Portrush Playhouse will still go ahead and we hope anyone attending Waveriders, the movie, and Saturday night's music have a great weekend and enjoy the lovely weather.
"We would like to thank all our sponsors and trust we will all be back together for a fantastic contest in May (22-23)."
