Sweep results Lurgan Road

SATURDAY MARCH 6 - The standard of scoring in the sweeps gets better and better.

First of all Timothy Beattie wins the middle section with a marvellous 38 points. That equalled the best 14 holes score for this current year.

But then along came John G Lennon who rewrote the record books with an unbelievable score of 40 points. And he only beat Jonathan Kerr by one point. The sooner we get all these men onto the back tees the better.

He then went out on Sunday and won the nine holes sweep with a record-breaking score of nett 28. Timothy played the nine holes in level par which is way above average for a 16 handicapper.

It was also a rewarding day for Seamus Rooney. He took the runners-up spot and he also split the twos pot with Gareth McGregor.

MONDAY MARCH 8 - Philip Strong returned the best score in last Monday’s 14 holes sweep. It was Philip’s first win of the year and I’m sure it won’t be his last.
