Ballyvea Thirds 2

Banbridge Rangers Swifts 1

THE Swifts travelled to Kilkeel on Saturday to play Ballyvea thirds hoping to pick up their first three points of the season.

A slow start by the away side allowed Ballyvea to get in front with two goals before 20 minutes had gone on the clock.

After the second goal Rangers Swifts showed a bit more composure on the ball with Wayne McCallister and Aaron Chambers trying to work opportunities from either flank but clear cut chances were few and far between.

At half time Rangers went into the break two goals down but were upbeat and have been scoring freely in matches of late. Both sides had more chances in the second half with the game opening up but keepers for both teams were equal to any efforts.

With 20 minutes remaining Stephen Copes pulled a goal back for Rangers Swifts volleying in past the Ballyvea keeper.

Banbridge Rangers pushed for an equaliser until the end but Ballyvea remained resolute and left the swifts looking for their first win of the season.

This Saturday's game is another away trip to play Carryduff Colts in Newcastle League Division Three.
