Tandragee gift to Mehaffey in recognition of dream season

A presentation of a special hand-crafted memento was recently made by outgoing Tandragee captain Hamilton Loney in recognition of the achievements enjoyed by the club's Olivia Mehaffey across 2015.

“Olivia won the Ladies’ Golf Union Order Of Merit and, with it, received an invite into the 2016 Ricoh British Open,” said Loney. “She won the Irish Girls’ Strokeplay Championship for a third straight year and also claimed the Scottish Women’s Amateur Open and the Welsh Women’s Amateur Open. “Olivia was runner-up to India’s Aditi Ashok in the British Ladies’ Strokeplay Championship, was a semi-finalist in the British Ladies’ Amateur Open and a finalist in the Irish Ladies’ Close.

“It was some season, one that she intends to build on in what is a Curtis Cup year, especially with the biennial match, the most famed of all amateur team competitions, to be played at Dún Laoghaire Golf Club in the foothills of the Dublin mountains in June.”Adrian Maney and Mark Bannerman managed to maintain first place across the Johnston Shield standings at Tandragee.

The leading four scores after five weeks of play have put Maney and Bannerman on 123 points from the overall tally of 148.

Neill Hazard and Douglas Hazard now sit second following 119 points from four cards.

Colin McKillop and Philip Irwin now sit third, with Philip Greer and Tom Farson alongside Paul Topley and John Quinn.

Four pairs put up 113 - Simon Muldrew and Norman McGladdery, Tony Graham and Michael Lyons, Paul Headley and Andy Latimer and John Haffey and Stuart Paul. The four pairs sharing 10th are Geoff Gray and Ashley McConville, John Weir and Robert Megarity, Gerard Guy and Jim Campbell and Alan Hewitt and Colin McMullen.
