Team get back to winning ways

SUNNYSIDE under 12s got back to winning ways with a comfortable 6–2 victory over Newhill.

Managers Conway and Devlin made some changes to the team and straightaway they won a corner which was taken by Murphy and headed home by skipper Lenaghan.

Sunnyside’s keeper McGeown was called into action but dealt with everything and good football from the defence of Kelly, Lenaghan, O’Neill and Geraghty led to Lee Haughian’s first goal when he ran at the defence and rifled a shot into the top corner to make it 2-0.

Then Sunnyside lost concentration and let Newhill score, leaving it 2-1 at half-time.

In the second half Sunnyside re-grouped with Hatchell and Borsey dominating the middle.

Again Geraghty and Haughian were linking up well down the left side and Haughian scored again to put his side 3-1 ahead.

Sunnyside introduced Doran and Lavery and they both made an immediate impact as Lavery made it 4-1.

They made further changes and brought on the Mackin twins and McKee who all did extremely well.

Sunnyside’s fifth goal came from Geraghty before Newhill pulled another goal back.

McCluskey eventually rounded off the scoring as the Lurgan side ran out 6-2 winners.

This was a better performance from Sunnyside and they are looking forward to their next game against Lower Maze. Man of the match was shared between Lee Haughian and Eoin McCluskey.
