Teddy Bears complete double over champions

Carrick and District Pool League: Teddy Bears completed a league double of over defending champions Greenisland Galacticos thanks to an 8-6 home win. Despite hat-tricks from Chris Carson and John McClean, the visitors were unable to complete the remaining frames, giving the Teddy Bears victory. Best for the hosts was C. McCrea who landed a hat-trick.

League leaders The Swift eased to a comfortable 13-1 win at Alpha. A hat-trick from Rab Butler and well-taken braces from Dee Irwin, Kyle Kirkwood, Andy Arbuthnot and Stuart McClean saw them emerge as comprehensive winners. Angie Carson took a frame for the hosts.

Whitehead Spartans shared the spoils with Johhny Thompson’s Scorpions in a 7-7 draw, while the Cowboys and the Warriors chalked up the same result.

Doagh Weapons racked up an 8-6 success at home to Eastway, and Greenisland Colts 9-5 to Greenisland Working Men’s Club.

Whitehead Trojans played host to the Hitmen and Her, hoping their form from the last outing would continue. However, this was not to be the case as Paul Henderson got back onto the hat-trick trail, helped along by Andy McMeekin’s treble. Robert Henderson, with a well-taken brace, took care of this match to secure a 10-4 win.
