TENNIS: Cavan and Craig win Rose Bowl title

There was an excellent turn out of players for Whitehead summer festival’s annual tennis tournament .

Players were competing to win the Rose Bowl, which was presented to the club by the late Gordon Canning.

Competitors were divided into two sections and played three matches of nine games.

As each match was played with the club handicap, all ties were very close with some excellent performances.

The section winners were Ian McBride, partnered by Debbie McNabb, and Graeme Cavan, partnered by Heather Craig.

After nine close-fought games, the winners by the narrow margin of five games to four, were Cavan and Craig.

They were presented with the Rose Bowl by club captain Alec Pennycook, with prizes kindly donated by Paul Abraham.
