Tennis club in fine form

Coleraine Tennis Club A Team have had a fantastic start in their bid to win Division 3 of the Belfast & District Summer League winning each of their first three matches.

The League runs from mid July to September and the team comprises of four players, two men & two ladies, playing two mixed doubles and a men’s & ladies doubles. In their first match, an away fixture to Banbridge, the Coleraine team came out winners 4-0, with the Banbridge side struggling against Paul Logan, whose notorious drop shots worked to perfection.

Angie and Jill managed to come back having been down 2-5 in the second set of their ladies doubles, having won the first, to win 6-2, 7-5. Their second match was another ‘ away’ fixture, this time to Larne who have a reputation of being ‘hard hitters’.

First mixed was very close with some fantastic rallies and unfortunately Paul and Angie lost out in the Championship Tie Break 10-6. Paul Logan and Paul McCrum managed to come through in their mens doubles, this time clinching the Championship Tie Break 12-10. Second mixed and the ladies doubles were won relatively easily, so the end result was a win for Coleraine 3-1. This week Coleraine played Hilden at home, and saw the welcome return of Ronan Lundy & Gem Henderson. Coleraine were on fine form and won each of the four matches convincingly.
